Mack Lloyd Walch Library & Museum
Copyright 2023 by the Southern Oregon Railway Historical Society
An interactive display built by Larry Tuttle on the museum porch allows guests to operate and learn how an ex. Southern Pacific H2 railroad signal works.
Our museum completed in 2009 houses our railroad artifacts collection, books, videos, photos, and engeneering documentation. Also in the museum building is a temperature controlled archive room and the Society office. The museum is open to the public during run days. The wooden bench in front of the museum is from the Southern Pacific Depot in Grants Pass, Or.
Our Museum & Library is dedicated in the memory of Mack Walch the son of our vice president Ric Walch.
These 4 images show the interior of our Museum and the current displays from the 2018 season. On an annual basis we rotate other items of railroad historical significance into the museum.
We recently made a major new addition to our museum collection. This 26" x 48" carving was made by William B. Edmondson (1911-1994) who was a lifelong resident of Butte Falls, Or. He is a regionally recognized artist and was featured in articles in the Medford Mail Tribune, the Timber Times, and on Jefferson Public Radio. His carvings have been displayed by local museums, the Oregon Historical Society, and even the Smithsonian.
