Santa Fe Caboose Number 999529
Caboose 999529 was rebuilt at San Bernardino, California between 1969 and 1970. During the rebuilding the interiors were completely stripped and rebuilt. The trucks were re-conditioned and new wheel sets were installed. The exterior of the cabooses were then repainted.
The photo at right was taken in Southern California in 1980.

The Santa Fe CE2 cabooses were rebuilt from the 500-599 class cabooses. The 500-599 class cabooses as seen in the photo at the right were built in 1949 at the Santa Fe shops.
This caboose design had a peaked roof on the cupola.
This photo was taken at Plainview, Texas on November 23, 1963.
Dan wilkinson purchased tthis caboose from the Santa Fe in 1989 & donated it to our Society in 2022.
This caboose is currently stored in White City, Oregon on private property.
